About the Artist

My interest in photography started at the age of about 15. At first, I used an old Robot camera of my father. Soon I wanted more and purchased my first SLR camera in the mid 1970th. Since than photography was part of my life, learning it the old way, developing films and creating black and white photos in my make shift dark room. Mostly I photographed using slide films on travels but also locally and experimental. During my studies of geology, I considered to switch to photography as a profession but eventually decided to continue the geology way. Besides that, I started to create slide shows accompanied with mixed up music, first manually and later automatically by using Kodak carousel projectors, a control unit and a 4-channel tape recorder. Therefore, photography was a hobby for a long time for me. I refined my skills and had small exhibitions occasionally.

After switching to digital photography in 2008 things got more serious. The creative possibilities increased significantly for me.  Eventually I started an Instagram account in 2019 to share images. In 2022, my daughter was on a world travel tour and met by chance in Austria Marc Thomas Merz, an haute couture artist of Vienna to whom she showed some of my images. He instantly had the idea of an exhibition combining my images and his extremely elaborated robes. This exhibition was realised in the end of 2023. It took place in the gallery of Schloss Porcia in Spittal in Austria. I will never forget that he said:” Your treasure chests are full. It is time to open them and show the gems to the public.” So here, I am…
