The Images
Most photos are taken in the natural world to show its beauty. The aim is to find and express the essence of the subjects being explored with the camera. This is a almost meditative process of high concentration.
I react intuitive to what I see. In that sense I am a finder. Framing and composition will then be adjusted to a high density of visual expression. This can reach the level of abstraction.
The goal is to go beyond the documentary. In the best way the image should touch the viewer without the necessity of words. To achive this I sometimes use technics as long exposure, intentional camera movement and multiple exposure, occationally in combination. These yield unexpected and surprising results which can transcendent reality.

Extended Photography
In recent years I applied a more experimental approach in creating images. This opened a new way for me to transcend the visible natural world. Intentional camera movement during exposure, sometimes combined with multiple exposure can yield images of surprising depth and beauty. As there is a lot of try and error involved, only a few photos reach that level.

Waterwonders
The seemingly infinite forms and manifestations of water in the natural world always fascinated and inspired me, as it is the case for most nature photographers. I will never get tired of exploring its variety.
Extended Photography
A way for me to transcend the visible world is to apply intentional camera movement (ICM) and multiple exposure separately or in combination. This can create images of surprising beauty and intensity touching the soul.
Lightscapes
Some time ago I explored light diffracted by irregular shaped glass objects using a camera and a macro lens as a probe. This unfathomable world of light is only visible to the camera and not to the naked eye. All images are single shots on film.
Landscapes
As a keen traveller I always had an eye on the various landscapes I came along. I try to catch the moods of the places.
Desert
Working as a geologist in South Africa some time ago I came in touch with the incredible vistas of the Namib desert. As those landscapes are a photographers dream, I continue to return…

A german geologist by profession working as a senior mine geologist in South Afrika and later as a environmental geologist in Germany. He is also exploring early land plants of the devonian period and discovered the worlds oldest fossil forest found in a german quarry. Beside that a major passion for almost 50 years is photography, predominantly nature and landscapes. In recent years the focus shifts to a more experimental approach in creating images. He is married and has two grown up children.
